192　damage和damages

① damage損壞，損害（不可數(shù)），常用于 do damage to（to sb.'s reputation）。

The accident did a lot of damage to the car. 這次事故使車子受到很大損壞。

Fire causes damage to property. 火災(zāi)使財(cái)產(chǎn)受損失。

② damages賠償費(fèi)，損壞物。

He claimed ＄50，000 damages from his employer for his loss of his right arm while at work. 他因公失去了右臂，向雇主要求50000美元的賠償費(fèi)。

The court ordered the defendant（被告）to pay S|1，000 in damages for the accident. 法庭要求被告為這次事故支付1000美元賠償費(fèi)。
