422　keep out，keep up和keep up with

① keep out sb./sth.或keep sb./sth. out意為“使……不進(jìn)入，使……在外”。也可說keep sb./sth. out of sth.。

These clothes may help you keep out the cold. 這些衣服可以幫助你御寒。（=keep the cold out）

He kept the dog out. 他把狗關(guān)在門外。

She keeps the children out of the room. 她不讓孩子們進(jìn)入那個房間。

You should keep out of such things. 你不要介入這些事情。

② keep up意為“繼續(xù)”，相當(dāng)于continue；也表示“使……不低落，保持”，相當(dāng)于remain high。

I hope the fine weather will keep up. 我希望這好天氣能繼續(xù)下去。

He has kept up studying English. 他一直堅(jiān)持學(xué)習(xí)英語。

Her courage kept up in the face of danger. 她在危險面前仍能鼓起勇氣。

③ keep up with意為“趕得上，不落伍”，表示同時起步，不至于掉隊(duì)。

We should keep up with the times. 我們應(yīng)不落伍于時代。

catch up with表示在已經(jīng)落后或起步較晚的情況下“趕上，追上”，與keep up with有區(qū)別。
