(2)表示“占用(時(shí)間、地方等)”。
I won't take up much of your time. 我不會(huì)占用你多少時(shí)間。

(3)表示“拿起”。
She took up a book and began to read. 她拿起一本書(shū),開(kāi)始閱讀。
He took up his cap and left the room. 他拿起帽子,離開(kāi)了房間。
② take in通常表示兩種含義。
(1)表示“理解,領(lǐng)會(huì)”。
I didn't take in what he said. 我不理解他的話。
He doesn't quite take in your lecture. 他不太理解你的講解。
(2)表示“欺騙,詐騙”。
He took me in with lies. 他用謊話騙過(guò)了我。
She was taken in by the wicked man. 她被那個(gè)壞人騙了。
③ take on通常表示三種含義。
(1)表示“承擔(dān)(工作)”。
He took on the job. 他承擔(dān)了這項(xiàng)工作。
Would you take on the work?你肯承擔(dān)這項(xiàng)工作嗎?
(2)表示“(車、船等)載客”。
The bus stopped to take on some children. 公共汽車停下來(lái)帶上一些兒童。
The ship has taken on too many people. 這條船載客過(guò)多。
(3)表示“呈現(xiàn)(新面貌)”。
The city has taken on a new look. 這座城市呈現(xiàn)出新的面貌。
④ take over通常表示兩種含義。
(1)表示“接替,接辦”。
She retired last month and I took over her job. 她上個(gè)月退休,我便接替了她的工作。
He will take over my duties next week. 他下周將接替我的工作。
(2)表示“接管(政府、公司、機(jī)關(guān)等)”。
He will take over the company in a month. 他一個(gè)月后接管這家公司。
The newly elected director took over yesterday. 新當(dāng)選的董事長(zhǎng)昨天就任。
