　　hold your breath 屏住呼吸，忍住呼吸

　　這里的 hold 為“抑制”，“忍受”的意思，因此 hold one's breath 表示“屏住呼吸”，“緊張”，not hold one's breath 表示“不害怕”，“鎮(zhèn)定”等，也可以表達(dá)不要忍受太久。

　　例句：

　　I can hold my breath for 10 minutes.
