[00:07.96]On Campus Marriage
[00:10.64]Sensitive as it might be,
[00:14.06]campus marriage has gained more support
[00:16.67]in recent years with the improvement
[00:19.55]of civil right consciousness in China.
[00:22.53]Although permitted by relevant laws,
[00:25.71]campus marriage remains a highly controversial issue in China.
[00:30.56]Some people find it natural for college students to get married,
[00:35.68]because these students are already adults
[00:38.87]and can make important decisions.
[00:41.11]In addition, married students tend to show better
[00:45.40]insight into both personal and social responsibility.
[00:49.50]Others, however, hold a different view.
[00:53.42]They insist that the main task for students should be study,
[00:58.59]and the establishment of a family
[01:00.98]will definitely distract them from it.
[01:03.72]Furthermore, adults as they are,
[01:06.77]college students are still mentally and financially
[01:10.44]not able to shoulder the responsibility of taking care of the family.
[01:14.98]From where I stand,
[01:16.97]campus marriage shouldn't be encouraged
[01:19.85]because most of us are not well prepared for starting a new family.
[01:24.08]At present we'd better focus on our studies
[01:27.94]and leave other matters to be considered in the future.
