I’ve Been Trying That for Years
A man went to the police office wishing to speak with the burglar who had broken into his house the night before.
"You will get your chance in court." said the Desk Sergeant.
"No, no, no." said the man. "I want to know how he got into the house without waking my wife. I've been trying to do that for years."

【詞匯講解】
1. “A man went to the police office wishing to speak with the burglar…”這里的wishing to speak with the burglar表示這個(gè)人去警察局的原因。
2. burglar盜賊。
3.break into闖入。break可以和很多介詞搭配，比如break up“分散”： The crowd broke up after the game.比賽結(jié)束后人群四面散開。break sb into“使某人習(xí)慣”： There was no time to break in a new foreign minister.
