My Dream Job
I found a dream job—testing computer games. My first day at work I was listing testing plans in an Excel program when my manager walked by. He looked at my screen for a moment, then said sternly, “I’d better not catch you using Excel on company time when you know you should be playing games.”

詞匯講解】

2.list列出。Mother listed the items she wanted to buy before Christmas.母親把圣誕節(jié)前要買的東西開了張單子。His name is listed in the telephone directory.電話簿上登有他的名字。還可以指“列舉”：In the discussion, he listed a wide variety of problems.在討論中他列舉了一大堆各種各樣的問題。
3.Excel微軟出品的電子表格軟件。excel這個詞本身是什么意思呢?這是一個動詞，意思是“勝過/優(yōu)于/突出”，可以是及物或不及物：excel at chess棋藝精湛。He excelled all other poets of his day.他勝過同時代的所有其他詩人。He excels as an orator.他是個出類拔萃的演說家。
4.sternly嚴厲地。形容詞是stern嚴厲的/嚴峻的/堅定的：a stern punishment嚴厲的處罰;take stern measures采取嚴格措施;a stern teacher嚴格的老師; a stern resolve毫不動搖的決心;be stern against sth.堅定不移地反對某事。Don’t get too stern with them.不要對他們過分嚴格。
5.“ I’d better not catch you…”這是典型的“had better do sth.”的句型，后面要加的是動詞原型，有否定詞要跟在better后面。
6.catch抓住。catch是個多義詞，比如“趕上”：We caught him before he had gone far.他還沒有走遠，我們就追上了他。 “偶然發(fā)現(xiàn)”：They were caught trying to corner the rice market.他們被發(fā)覺企圖壟斷大米市場。
