Before the stout harvesters falleth the grain,
在強壯的收割機割斷莊稼之前，
As when the strong stormwind is reaping the plain,
當猛烈的暴風席卷平原大地，
And loiters the boy in the briery lane;
男孩在荊棘密布的小路上游蕩；
But yonder aslant comes the silvery rain,
但銀色的雨絲傾斜著出現(xiàn)在了那邊，
Like a long line of spears brightly burnished and tall.
像極了一條條又高又亮的長矛，排成長線。
Adown the white highway like cavalry fleet,
順著白色的高速路，像騎兵的隊伍，
It dashes the dust with its numberless feet.
無數(shù)的腳步濺起塵土。
Like a murmurless school, in their leafy retreat,
像一所聽不到沙沙聲的學校，
The wild birds sit listening the drops round them beat;
野外的鳥兒坐聽雨滴落在它們身邊噼啪作響；
And the boy crouches close to the blackberry wall.
男孩蹲在臨近長滿黑莓的墻邊。
The swallows alone take the storm on the wing,
唯獨燕子用翅膀迎接暴風雨，
And, taunting the tree-sheltered laborers, sing.
它們用歌聲嘲笑著在樹下避雨的工人們。
Like pebbles the rain breaks the face of the spring,
雨兒像鵝卵石一樣打破了春天的面孔，
While a bubble darts up from each widening ring;
而每個綻開的圓圈都形成一個氣泡；
And the boy in dismay hears the loud shower fall.
沮喪中的男孩聽到了大雨傾瀉而下的聲音。
But soon are the harvesters tossing their sheaves;
但收割機很快開始轉(zhuǎn)動它們的滑車輪；
The robin darts out from his bower of leaves;
知更鳥從樹葉的蔭庇下沖出來，
The wren peereth forth from the moss-covered eaves;
鷦鷯從覆蓋著苔蘚的屋檐下向前探頭，
And the rain-spattered urchin now gladly perceives
濺了一身雨水的淘氣鬼現(xiàn)在高興地想到，
That the beautiful bow bendeth over them all.
