12、一分辛勤一分回報(bào)

Ask for a pay raise(要求加薪)是一個(gè)比較embarrassing(尷尬)的事情。員工在加倍努力工作之后或在get promoted(得到升遷)之后,總是希望薪水也能有所增加,算是作為對(duì)自己的recognition and reward(認(rèn)可和回報(bào))。但是有時(shí)候上司卻遲遲不提加薪的事情,這種情況下,是選擇繼續(xù)埋頭干活等待時(shí)機(jī),還是主動(dòng)找上司談一談呢?

如果你是那種拿多少薪水都能self-motivated(自我激勵(lì))的employee(職員),那就別往下看了,just go back to your desk and go on working!

可是在面臨這樣的狀況時(shí),Nancy卻不想就這樣被動(dòng)地等下去了,她加入Innovo已經(jīng)有一年半的時(shí)間了,從Marketing Department的一名普通職員做到Department Director的位置,自己付出的努力和取得的成績(jī)是有目共睹的。這一切總得有所回報(bào)或獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)吧。Nancy是個(gè)聰明人,她想好了應(yīng)該怎么向boss爭(zhēng)取利益:

Choose the right time & place.

Prepare and present a convincing list of your accomplishment.

Ask for a reasonable raise rate.

Be polite & be cooperative.

Impress the boss that you are very much encouraged by this pay raise.

雖然腹稿已經(jīng)打好了,可是Nancy還是不確定when & where向Johnson make a pay claim(正式提出加薪)比較合適。

恰巧周五下午,Innovo召開了一次weekly meeting,總結(jié)了一下前段時(shí)間公司的經(jīng)營(yíng)狀況。結(jié)果很是鼓舞人心,上兩周公司的業(yè)績(jī)有了很大improvement(提升),市場(chǎng)部還被特別點(diǎn)名表?yè)P(yáng)了,VP的臉上露出了少有的笑容。Nancy覺得,提pay-raise(加薪)的時(shí)機(jī)到了。

于是在散會(huì)后,她走到VP旁邊,問(wèn)他有沒有時(shí)間談一個(gè)private problem(私人問(wèn)題)。VP臉上雖然有些疑惑,但還是馬上就同意了。他叫Nancy跟他回自己的辦公室里談。

在Johnson的辦公室里,Nancy又暗暗給自己打了打氣,終于開口了:

I'm grateful for the opportunity to work for you and I enjoy doing so. I hope you'll agree that, in the last 18 months I've worked for you, I've become an integral member of your team and accomplished a great deal. For example, in the last six months alone, I've implemented innovative marketing plan that resulted in over $60 million in revenue, supervised in-house and outside agency creative staff in developing logos, website, e-sales and e-care, driven branding guidelines across the company and with external partner, and developed strategic business plan for new venture into consumer service.

However, I'm still working for the initial salary on which we agreed when I joined the company. As I recall, we also agreed to renegotiate my salary based on my accomplishments, and that time has come. In light of my accomplishments and per our agreement, I'm respectfully requesting an immediate pay raise of 30 percent, to be followed in six months by a performance-based pay raise of an additional 20 percent.

I strongly feel that I've earned the immediate pay raise and I'm confident that I will also earn the six-month raise based on my performance.

Nancy一口氣將之前準(zhǔn)備的話都說(shuō)出來(lái)后,Johnson微笑著回答道,“Yes, Nancy, you are totally right. You deserve a pay raise for what you did. Sorry that I didn't pick this up earlier.”

沒想到Johnson這么痛快地就答應(yīng)了,Nancy興奮地說(shuō),“Thanks a lot. I'd like to continue to be a key player on your team in a mutually-rewarding relationship.”

聽到Johnson的回答,Nancy真想上前給他一個(gè)hug(擁抱),但她忍住了。她怕這個(gè)美國(guó)老紳士受不了自己這個(gè)小姑娘的熱情?;氐阶约旱霓k公室,她趕忙給好朋友也是同事的Cathy打電話請(qǐng)她晚上去三里屯吃法式大餐,Cathy感到很突然地問(wèn):“你發(fā)大財(cái)了?”Nancy先賣了個(gè)關(guān)子:“先保密,到時(shí)候告訴你?!狈畔码娫捄?,Nancy又琢磨著應(yīng)該買些什么好吃的分給其他的好朋友,讓大家一起分享一下自己的喜悅。

這次能夠成功地爭(zhēng)取到加薪還是因?yàn)镹ancy選擇的時(shí)機(jī)非常合適,如果早一些,在她還沒有做出成績(jī)時(shí),就沒有提出加薪的理由和資本;如果再等待一段時(shí)間,自己的心理又不平衡,畢竟她為這份工作付出了太多的時(shí)間和精力,她需要認(rèn)可和回報(bào)。晚上,Nancy把自己的感想都整理到了自己的職場(chǎng)筆記本里:

1.不愿當(dāng)將軍的士兵不是好士兵,不愿意努力升職的員工也不是好員工。

2.付出就有回報(bào),雖然有時(shí)候回報(bào)需要你自己去爭(zhēng)取。

3.如果你的老板遲遲不給應(yīng)該加薪的你提加薪的事兒,有兩種可能:

●他以為你對(duì)目前的薪水很滿意,加不加薪都不會(huì)影響你的工作熱情;

●他在等待你自己主動(dòng)去爭(zhēng)取,考驗(yàn)?zāi)愕恼勁屑记伞?

4.如果你確定自己理所應(yīng)當(dāng)?shù)玫郊有?,那就大膽地去找你的老板吧?

5.Tips for asking for a pay raise. 如何和老板提加薪:

●Choose the right time & place. 選擇合適的時(shí)機(jī)和地點(diǎn)提出來(lái)。

●Prepare and present a convincing list of your accomplishment. 把你的工作成果列舉出來(lái)。

●Ask for a reasonable raise rate. 要求加薪的幅度要符合公司的常規(guī),不要獅子大開口。

●Be polite & be cooperative. 不卑不亢的姿態(tài)也很重要。

●Impress the boss that you're very much encouraged by this payraise. 如果老板答應(yīng)了你的要求,就要表現(xiàn)出深受鼓舞的樣子,這也是在鼓勵(lì)老板——給你加薪,是明智的選擇!
