　　這兩個(gè)詞都作"是否"解，引導(dǎo)賓語(yǔ)從句時(shí)，二者可互換。

　　如：

　　People often ask me whether/ if I like football.人們常問(wèn)我是否喜歡足球。

　　但在下列情況中不能用if, 只能用whether。

　　(1)當(dāng)whether與or not連成一個(gè)詞組時(shí)。

　　如：

　　I don't know whether or not he would come for our help.

　　我不知道他是否來(lái)幫助我們。

　　(2)whether 引導(dǎo)的（主語(yǔ)）從句放在句首時(shí)。

　　如：

　　Whether this is right or not, I can't say.

　　這事對(duì)與不對(duì)，我說(shuō)不準(zhǔn)。

　　Whether you will go is none of my business.

　　你是否要去與我無(wú)關(guān)。

　　(3)whether + to do sth. 復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)，可以作賓語(yǔ)。

　　He hasn't decided whether to go or not.

　　他沒(méi)有決定是否要去。
