I'm on a Pacific island west of Panama. 我身在巴拿馬西面的一座太平洋小島上

Surrounded by miles of open water,if you are stuck here, you'll be faced with a stark choice. 周?chē)且煌麩o(wú)際的公海 要是受困于此 你將面臨艱難的抉擇

Lot of harsh decisions for the survivor to make. 幸存者有很多艱難的決定要做

It's just whether to stay or whether to go,on an island like this. 在這樣一座島上 是堅(jiān)守待援還是迅速逃離

But what's important is you make these decisions while you're feeling strong, while you're thinking clearly, 但重要的是 在作出決定時(shí) 要保證身體狀況良好并且思路清晰

you know, because what happens if you think of this as your health and this line as time, 原因在于 比方說(shuō)縱軸是你的健康狀況 橫軸是時(shí)間

you're gonna start off feeling strong,but as you dehydrate, 剛開(kāi)始的時(shí)候會(huì)覺(jué)得體力充沛 但隨著你開(kāi)始逐漸脫水

you don't get enough food, you don't get enough nutrients, 而且食物不足 營(yíng)養(yǎng)物攝入不夠

eventually you're gonna reach a point here where you're deteriorating fast. 最終你就會(huì)到達(dá)這個(gè)臨界點(diǎn) 在這里你的身體狀況會(huì)迅速惡化

Once you reach that point,this island becomes your prison. 一旦到了這個(gè)時(shí)間點(diǎn) 這座島就成了你的監(jiān)獄了

So what matters is make all your big decisions up this end of the curve, 所以要在曲線(xiàn)的最上端的這段時(shí)間內(nèi) 把重要的決定都做好

where you're feeling mentally and physically strong. 這個(gè)時(shí)候你在體力充沛 意志堅(jiān)強(qiáng)

Ultimately I plan to build a raft,but before setting out to sea, you need supplies. 最終我決定做一個(gè)筏子 但駛?cè)氪蠛Ｖ?得找點(diǎn)補(bǔ)給

I'm gonna search the island to stockpile food and, above all, water. 我要在島上搜尋 以收集些食物 還有最重要的淡水

Now, actually, look, you see there's water coming down there all these drips. 看那 這兒有水淌下 一滴一滴的

Mmm. that's fresh, as well.So even though it looks bone-dry up here, 不咸 是淡水 雖然上面看上去干干的

water is gonna seep through the rock, and it's coming out of here. 但還是有水從石頭里滲出來(lái)

And when you've got as little freshwater as there is on this island,every little drop is precious. 在這座島上 很難找到些許淡水 每一滴都彌足珍貴
