I dreamed I stood with her, and saw the yellow sunlight shine On the vine-clad hills of Bingen,—fair Bingen on the Rhine.

我夢(mèng)想與她牽手佇立，一起漫步在滿山葡萄藤纏繞的山巔，眺望賓根的金色日出，——萊茵河畔宏偉的賓根。

I saw the blue Rhine sweep along: I heard, or seemed to hear,

我看見藍(lán)色的賓根在飛奔勇進(jìn)，我聽見，

The German songs we used to sing, in chorus sweet and clear;

哦，似乎聽見，那些我們?cè)?jīng)反復(fù)吟唱的德國(guó)戰(zhàn)歌，那甜蜜清澈的和聲，

And down the pleasant river, and up the slanting hill,

The echoing chorus sounded, through the evening calm and still;

And her glad blue eyes were on me, as we passed, with friendly talk, Down many a path beloved of yore, and well-remembered walk;

His trembling voice grew faint and hoarse; his grasp was childish weak, His eyes put on a dying look,—he sighed and ceased to speak.

他顫抖的聲音愈來愈虛弱嘶啞；他的手亦輕飄無力，他的眼神現(xiàn)出瀕死之光，他悵嘆一聲。不再說話。

His comrade bent to lift him, but the spark of life had fled,—The soldier of the Legion in a foreign land was dead!

他的戰(zhàn)友急忙蹲下扶起他，但他的生命火花急遽黯淡，那位德國(guó)軍團(tuán)士兵最終客死在他鄉(xiāng)！

And the soft moon rose up slowly, and calmly she looked down On the red sand of the battlefield, with bloody corses strewn;

溫柔的月亮緩慢升起，它冷冰冰地望著那片浸滿殷紅鮮血的戰(zhàn)場(chǎng)，

Yes, calmly on that dreadful scene, her pale light seemed to shine, As it shone on distant Bingen,—fair Bingen on the Rhine.

月光下，尸體紛亂雜陳，呈現(xiàn)出一幕可怖景象。那縷慘白月光撒在異鄉(xiāng)的土地，如同它照耀在遙遠(yuǎn)的賓根，——萊茵河畔妖嬈美麗的賓根。
