在遠(yuǎn)處，行人駐足望著將他們自己從烏青色氛圍里解脫出來(lái)的高高的穹頂和尖塔，

and far up and down the length of the street swept a stream of tormented life.

高低不平的長(zhǎng)長(zhǎng)街道掠過(guò)令人痛苦的生活場(chǎng)景。

All sorts of wheeled things thronged it, conspicuous among which rolled and jarred the gaudily painted stages,
