這三個(gè)句子中都有一個(gè)共同的短語(yǔ)是hit sb right between the eyes，毫無(wú)疑問(wèn)我們的疑問(wèn)就hit us right between the eyes(茅塞頓開(kāi)了)。

下面我們來(lái)看一下剛才的三個(gè)句子:

1. In a flash the evil intent of the vice-president usurping power hit the president right between the eyes. 一剎那間，副總統(tǒng)篡權(quán)的罪惡意圖給總統(tǒng)當(dāng)頭一棒。

In this sentence, "hit sb right between the eyes" means "to give sb a big suprise". 這句話中hit sb right between the eyes意思是讓某人非常吃驚。這也就是“結(jié)舌瞪目”的意思。

注解1：flash [flæ?] 一剎那 in a flash 瞬間, 即刻, 非常突然 Eg. I didn't get the number of the car that knocked you over. It was gone in a flash. 注解3：usurp [ju'z?:p] v.篡奪, 霸占, 篡位Eg. Henry IV usurped the throne of England.亨利四世篡奪了英國(guó)的王位。 usurp power 篡奪權(quán)利
