1　a lot 是副詞詞組，意為“非常，……多”，用于修飾動(dòng)詞、形容詞或副詞比較級(jí)，但不可修飾形容詞原級(jí)。a lot 也可用作名詞，作主語或賓語。

He works a lot . 他干得很多。

I liked the book a lot . 我非常喜歡這本書。（=very much）

She is a lot better today. 她今天好多了。（=much better）

He did the work a lot more carefully than the others. 他做這項(xiàng)工作比其他人小心多了。

I have a lot to do today. 我今天有許多事情要做。

It is very cold today. （正）今天很冷 。

It is a lot cold today. （誤）

　注意下面肯定句和否定句的轉(zhuǎn)換：

He hates her a lot . 他非常恨她 。

He doesn't hate her at all. 他一點(diǎn)也不恨她 。

I know her a lot . 她很了解她 。

I don't know her at all . 我一點(diǎn)也不了解她 。

2　a lot of 和lots of 意為“許多，很多”，?？蓳Q用，修飾復(fù)數(shù)名詞或不可數(shù)名詞。

He has a lot of books . （正）他有許多書 。

He has lots of books . （正）

He has lot of books. （誤）

She has a lot of money . （正）他有許多錢 。

She has lots of money . （正）

比較

He has lots of friends . 他有許多朋友。

He hasn't many friends . 他沒有多少朋友。

He has lots of time. 他有許多時(shí)間。

He hasn't much time. 他沒有多少時(shí)間。

提示

a lot和a lot of可以用quite修飾，但不用very或rather修飾。

It snows quite a lot here in winter. 這里冬天多雪。

There are quite a lot of students on the sports ground. 操場(chǎng)上有許多學(xué)生。
