376　dress, dress up, put on, wear和be in

1　dress 作動詞用時，可以作及物動詞或不及物動詞。作為及物動詞，dress 只能以“人”作賓語，不能以衣服作賓語。dress sb. 意為“給某人穿衣服”，dress oneself意為“給自己穿衣服”，表示的是動作。

She dressed the child. 她給那個孩子穿衣服。

He can dress himself now. （正）他能給自己穿衣服了 。

He can dress clothes now. （誤）

2　be/get dressed 意為“穿衣服”，表示的是狀態(tài)。get dressed 也可表示動作。

Mary is well dressed/is dressed very well. 瑪麗衣著漂亮。

The girl is too young to wash herself or get dressed . 那小女孩年齡太小，不能自己洗臉或穿衣服。

She was dressed in white. （正）她穿著白衣服 。

She dressed in white. （誤）

She was dressed in red at the party. （正）她在晚會上穿著紅衣服 。

She dressed herself in red at the party. （誤）

3　dress 作為不及物動詞，表示動作。

He can dress in three minutes. 他3分鐘就能穿好衣服。

Please tell him to dress . （正）請告訴他穿衣服 。

Please tell him to dress clothes . （誤）

4　dress up 主要指穿上盛裝，精心打扮。

She dressed up for the wedding. 她為參加婚禮而盛裝打扮。

It is a small party—you don't have to dress up . 這是個小型聚會——你不用穿得那么正式。

5　put on 意為“穿上，戴上”，表示穿或戴這一動作，反義詞是take off 。

He put on his coat and went out. 他穿上外衣出去了。

You'd better put on your cap. 你最好戴上帽子。

6　wear 意為“穿著，戴著”，表示的是狀態(tài)。be wearing也是表示“穿”的狀態(tài)，并不是進行時。

She is wearing a white dress today. 她今天穿著白色的服裝。

He wears thick glasses. 他戴著深度眼鏡。

I wear number 10 shoes. 我穿10號鞋子。
