中國利好數(shù)據(jù)推動亞洲股市新年首日上漲

Robust Chinese manufacturing data helped most Asian stock markets start the year on a positive note, although Shanghai itself failed to join the party.

The HSBC/Markit China purchasing managers index rose to 56.1 in December, the highest level since the survey began in April 2004, echoing official data released on January 1.

2009年12月份的HSBC/Markit中國采購經(jīng)理人指數(shù)(PMI)升至56.1，為2004年4月開始調(diào)查以來的最高水平。這一數(shù)據(jù)與1月1日中國公布的官方數(shù)據(jù)相符。

However, the release also showed that Chinese manufacturers raised their prices at the fastest rate in 17 months, prompting fears of higher inflation.

“We expect inflation to become an increasing focus for Chinese policymakers, suggesting that the case for tighter policy, including a stronger currency, is likely to build,” said Nick Chamie, global head of emerging markets research at RBC Capital Markets. “We forecast Beijing to start hiking policy rates and allowing gradual renminbi appreciation from around the end of the first quarter.”

The Shanghai Composite index snapped a four-day run of gains to finish 1 per cent lower at 3,243.76 while the Hang Seng index in Hong Kong slipped 0.2 per cent to 21,823.28.

Mainland banks suffered broad losses with Industrial and Commercial Bank of China falling 1.7 per cent to Rmb5.35.

The real estate sector also came under pressure amid worries that Beijing could step up measures to curb property speculation. China Vanke fell 1.9 per cent to Rmb10.60.

In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 Average climbed 1 per cent to a fresh 15-month closing high of 10,654.79 as exporters were helped by the yen's softer tone against the dollar. The broader Topix index rose 0.9 per cent to 915.75.

Seoul reversed an early decline as gains for technology stocks helped push the the Kospi index up 0.8 per cent to 1,696.14.

In Taipei, the Weighted index inched up 0.2 per cent to 8,207.85 as optimism about growing demand for computers and flatscreen televisions helped AU Optronics rise 2.8 per cent to T$39.90 and rival Chi Mei jump 6.9 per cent to T$24.05.
