　　As, to behold desert a beggar born,

　　And needy nothing trimmed in jollity,

　　And purest faith unhappily forsworn,

　　And gilded honor shamefully misplaced,

　　And maiden virtue rudely strumpeted,

　　And right perfection wrongfully disgraced,

　　And strength by limping sway disabled,

　　And art made tongue-tied by authority,

　　And folly (doctorlike) controlling skill,

　　And simple truth miscalled simplicity,

　　And captive good attending captain ill.

　　Tired with all these, from these would I be gone,

　　Save that to die, I leave my love alone.

　　厭了這一切，我向安息的死疾呼，

　　比方，眼見(jiàn)天才注定做叫化子，

　　無(wú)聊的草包打扮得衣冠楚楚，

　　純潔的信義不幸而被人背棄，

　　金冠可恥地戴在行尸的頭上，

　　壯士被當(dāng)權(quán)的跛子弄成殘缺，

　　愚蠢擺起博士架子駕馭才能，

　　淳樸的真誠(chéng)被人瞎稱(chēng)為愚笨，

　　囚徒“善”不得不把統(tǒng)帥“惡”伺候：
