作為電影「飛越蘇聯」《White Nights》的主題曲。電影敘述一位原蘇聯芭蕾舞男演員和一位美國黑人踢踏舞演員在策劃出逃時結下的友誼。這首歌是在影片結束時唱的。相比電影本身的默默無聞，作為主題曲的《Say you say me》卻是享譽世界。
只要人人都獻出一份愛，這世界就會更加美好，可以說這是首歌的主題思想。世界原本該這樣：大家說說笑笑，談論你我他，多多交流，而歌中所唱的現實是：人們戴著假面具生活，在黑暗中玩著游戲，互不吐真情，游戲生活，互不信任，猜疑之墻林立，在這樣的墻后終有人在大聲呼吁真誠。歌中還唱道：當我們走上人生的孤寂之路時似乎人世間最難的是找到朋友，一兩個通情達理、樂于為你指路的朋友。所以歌詞作者呼喚人間真情，這當然首先要求大家互訴衷腸，既信任別人又信任自己。
