托福詞匯之“cross-dresser變性人”

　　近日，美國一位長有胡須的男子照片出現(xiàn)在《Advocate》同性戀雜志封面上，隨即引來了強烈的爭議。原來，照片中這位男子已有5個月身孕，之前已接受胸部移除和睪丸激素植入手術由女性變?yōu)楹戏行浴?/p>

　　Thomas Beatie, a transgender man of Oregon, gets pregnant by artificial insemination. He has decided to carry his child as he has said, "Wanting to have a biological child is neither a male nor female desire, but a human desire."

　　來自俄勒岡的變性男子托馬斯·貝蒂通過人工受精方式懷孕。因認為“想要一個親生的孩子并不是男性或女性的渴望，而是作為人類的渴望”，他決定懷這個孩子。

　　該報道中，artificial insemination 就是“人工受精”。transgender指 a person appearing or attempting to be a member of the opposite sex, as a transsexual or habitual cross-dresser (變性人)，有時候也會用作形容詞，跟transgendered同義，指“變性的”。而我們常見的表達sex change 則是the alteration, by surgery and hormone treatments, of a person's morphological sex characteristics to approximate those of the opposite sex，指“變性(手術或過程)”。
