A child prodigy with an IQ higher than AlbertEinstein is celebrating becoming a unique memberof Mensa. Nishi Uggalle, ten, is one of the youngestpeople in the country to score the highest possiblemark of 162 in the IQ society's supervised testing.

一位智商比愛因斯坦還高的天才兒童正慶祝自己成為門薩的特殊會員。這位小姑娘是妮詩·尤佳拉，今年10歲，在門薩智商測試中拿到了162分的高分，是英國得分最高且最年輕的參試者之一。

The Mensa Supervised IQ Test can only be taken bychildren aged over ten-and-a-half and consists of two separate industry-standard assessments.One measures mainly verbal reasoning skills and the other, which includes diagrams andimages, assesses visual and spatial logic. And Nishi, from Audenshaw in Tameside, scored thehighest possible mark of 162 in the first test – known as the Cattell III B score. She scored142 in the second element, the Culture Fare Scale, with the results putting her in the top oneper cent of the nation in terms of IQ. Anyone scoring a percentile of two in any Mensa test isadmitted to the society.

The controlled test takes two-and-a-half hours and, according to theories, Nishi's score andsubsequentIQ of 162 would be two points higher than famous physicist Einstein.

The former pupil at Audenshaw's Poplar Street Primary is studying at Withington Girls' Schooland starts at Altrincham Grammar School for Girls in September. She lives with her parents,Neelanga and Shiromi, who moved to Manchester from Sri Lanka in 2001. Dad Neelanga, 44,praised Nishi's first teachers at Poplar Street Primary. He said: 'We knew very early on that shewas gifted. She started reading and writing very early and was became very good atmathematics. We gave her challenging, interesting things to do. As a parent, you do not wanttheir talents to be wasted, but there has to be a balance with their childhood. She is just anormal 10-year-old, just like any other 10-year-old really. She loves reading, cycling andwalking, and we're all very proud of her.'

妮詩原來就讀于奧頓肖楊樹街小學(xué)，現(xiàn)在就讀于威辛頓女子學(xué)校，今年九月會進(jìn)入奧爾特林厄姆女子語法學(xué)校。她與父母尼朗加和施若咪一起生活， 2001年，一家三口從斯里蘭卡搬到了曼徹斯特。44歲的父親尼朗加稱贊妮詩在楊樹街小學(xué)的啟蒙老師們功不可沒。他說：“我們很早就知道她有天賦，她很小就開始閱讀和寫字，而且非常擅長數(shù)學(xué)計算。我們讓她做一些有挑戰(zhàn)又有趣味的事。作為父母，你不想讓孩子的天賦荒廢掉，但是在他們的童年時期又需要平衡。她只是一個普通的10歲小孩，真的就像任何其他的10歲小孩。她喜歡閱讀、騎車、散步，我們都為她感到驕傲。”

John Stevenage, chief executive of British Mensa, said he was delighted for Nishi. He said: 'Ihope she will make full use of her membership to meet new, like-minded people and challengeherself. Joining Mensa opens the door to an international network of more than 100,000 peopleand many members make friends for life.
