According to officials, Lyft drivers have earned more than a half-billion dollars in tips, with morethan half of them being given in 2017.

The average tip amount increased by 8 percent last year, officials said.

The data also showed that drivers who work on Friday and Saturday nights are 35 to 40 percentmore likely to receive a tip.
