龍泉寺住持釋學(xué)誠(chéng)遭舉報(bào)性侵

One of China's highest-ranking Buddhist monks has denied explosive allegations of sexual misconduct, which accusers claim left at least one victim suicidal.

近日，在中國(guó)級(jí)別最高的一位和尚否認(rèn)了關(guān)于他的極具爆炸性的不正當(dāng)性行為指控，控告者聲稱(chēng)其行為已使至少一名受害者自殺。

In a 95-page document submitted to Chinese authorities in July, two male monks at Beijing's Longquan Temple accused Shi Xuecheng of sexually harassing and assaulting multiple female nuns.

在一份于7月份提交給中國(guó)相關(guān)部門(mén)的95頁(yè)文件中，北京龍泉寺的兩名和尚指控釋學(xué)誠(chéng)性騷擾和性侵了多名尼姑。

It comes at a time when women in China are pushing back hard against widespread sexual abuse, in a manner similar to the #MeToo movement in Western countries.

當(dāng)前，中國(guó)的女性正在猛烈反擊波及面甚廣的性侵，這類(lèi)似于西方國(guó)家的#MeToo運(yùn)動(dòng)。

 

Xuecheng, who is the abbot of Longquan Temple, is a high-profile figure who heads the Buddhist Association of China and serves as a national political adviser to the Communist government.

龍泉寺的住持釋學(xué)誠(chéng)是一位名人，擔(dān)任中國(guó)佛教協(xié)會(huì)會(huì)長(zhǎng)，同時(shí)還是全國(guó)政協(xié)委員。

The 51-year-old, who has taken a vow of celibacy like most Buddhist monks, posted a brief statement, denying all allegations to his more than a million followers on his verified account on Weibo.

51歲的他跟大多數(shù)和尚一樣曾誓言禁欲，日前他向個(gè)人認(rèn)證微博賬號(hào)上的100多萬(wàn)粉絲發(fā)布了一份聲明，否認(rèn)了所有指控。

The statement, issued in the name of his temple, alleged the "organized and vicious" whistle blowers had "forged materials, distorted facts and spread false accusations" to mislead the public.

該聲明以龍泉寺的名義發(fā)布，聲稱(chēng)“有組織和惡意的”舉報(bào)者們“偽造素材，歪曲事實(shí)，散布不實(shí)舉報(bào)材料”，誤導(dǎo)大眾。

It said the temple would ask the government to conduct an official investigation to "put the record straight."

該聲明稱(chēng)，龍泉寺將提請(qǐng)政府展開(kāi)調(diào)查，“以正視聽(tīng)”。
