金立董事長劉立榮承認(rèn)賭博

A Chinese tech tycoon is denying that his ten-figure gambling losses at Saipan's Imperial Pacific casino are to blame for the near-bankruptcy of smartphone maker Gionee.

近日，中國一名技術(shù)大亨否認(rèn)自己在塞班島帝國太平洋賭場輸?shù)舻氖畮變|元與智能手機(jī)制造商金立瀕臨破產(chǎn)有所關(guān)聯(lián)。

Last weekend, Chinese business media outlet Securities Times published an interview with Gionee chairman/CEO Liu Lirong in which he denied reports that he'd lost up to RMB 10b (US$1.44b) gambling at the Imperial Pacific Resort casino on the island of Saipan.

Gionee, which holds 6% of China's smartphone market, is teetering on the verge of bankruptcy, with around RMB17b in debts on its balance sheet.

Suppliers have cut off the company after several months of non-payments, leaving the company's future severely in doubt.

In January, a court in the Chinese city of Dongguan ordered a two-year freeze of Liu's 41% stake in Gionee, reportedly based on growing awareness of the exec's mounting gambling debts.

今年一月，中國東莞市一家法院下令凍結(jié)了劉立榮在金立41%的股份，為期兩年。據(jù)報(bào)道，原因是外界越來越意識到這位高管的賭債越來越多。

Liu said the rumors of his gambling debts were greatly exaggerated, saying "how could Ipossibly lose" the reported RMB10b sum.

劉立榮表示，關(guān)于自己賭債的傳聞被嚴(yán)重夸大了，稱“我怎么可能輸?shù)?00億元”。

Liu added that if the rumors were true, Imperial Pacific International's Hong Kong-listed shares"should have surged" instead of falling by half since the start of the year.

劉立榮補(bǔ)充稱，如果傳言屬實(shí)，那么帝國太平洋國際在香港上市的股票自年初以來“應(yīng)該大幅上漲”，而不是下跌一半。

Liu did admit that he'd lost "a bit more than RMB1b" ($144m) from his gambling activity.

不過劉立榮承認(rèn)，他確實(shí)在賭博中輸?shù)袅?ldquo;10億多元人民幣”(約合1.44億美元)。
