A 911 call about a baby locked in a hot car Wednesday afternoon sent emergency workers scrambling to a Queens shopping mall — where they discovered the infant was actually a lifelike doll.
The false alarm marked the second involving a fake baby in the borough since June 18, when cops and medics were fooled into thinking a tiny figure in a Bayside park was a rotting corpse.
Medics who responded to the Metro Mall in Middle Village around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday “were preparing to start CPR but quickly realized it was a doll,” an FDNY source said.
First responders got into the car through a door that was conveniently left unlocked, the source added.
A photo provided by the source shows the doll, which resembles a dark-haired, newborn boy with closed eyes, lying face-up on its back on a stretcher.
Photos shot afterward show the doll was put back in the car, completely covered by a blanket.
