The Way's been lost for a thousand years;
people are all too stingy with their feelings.
They have wine, but can't bring themselves to drink it—
all they think about is worldly fame.
Why do we value this body of ours?
Isn't it because we have just one life?
And this one lifetime—how long will it last?
It shoots by like a bolt of lightening!
With you hundred years slipping away,
what do you hope to do with a thing like that?
