How to Write a Data Sheet1

 

A data sheet or résumé is a list of your most important achievements,talents,and skills

The first step in writing a data sheet is to gather personal informationThis includes your education and experience,and other facts such as activities or hobbiesYou then decide which of these facts are important enough to include on the data sheetEach person is unique2)Therefore,there is no single list of information to includeThere is also no single right way to organize a data sheetYou must carefully choose the facts you feel will help your chances of getting a particular jobExclude anything you feel would not be of helpMost data sheets include the following information in some order

1. Personal Data

2. Education

3. Work Experience

4. Activities

3. References3)

Your strongest points should get the most emphasisThese points should be placed first on the data sheetFor example,if you do not have much work experience,then stress4) educational experience or activities by placing them first on the data sheetIf you have more related work experiencethen place this fact firstUsually,facts placed at the beginning get the most attention from the readerIf the facts listed first are not impressive,the employer may not read any further

Personal Data

Following are types of personal data that you may wish to include in a data sheet

1. your name

2. address and telephone number

3. job objective

It is helpful to the employer to know as much as possible about youHowever,laws  prohibit personal questions that might be used to discriminateYou may want to include the following on your data sheet

1. data of birth

2. sex

3. health

If handicapped,include convincing reasons why the handicap5 will not stop you from doing the jobDo not list the handicap if you feel that the interview would be a better place to discuss this.)

4.marital status

Education

A student with more education than work experience should place the education information before work experience on the data sheetInclude the following information in the education section

1.name,location,dates of attendance,and degree awarded for all schools attended

2.special honors received

3.major area of study

4.courses pertinent to the jobif they will strengthen your case

Work Experience

For applicants who have had many related jobs,the work experience section is the most important part of the data sheetMost applicants have at least some paid work experience they can listList your work experience even if it does not seem related to the job for which you are applyingThe fact that you have held some kind of job is a recommendation6)List all paid jobs,beginning with the last job and moving backward in time

Employment information should include

1.name and location of company

2.job title and type of work performed

3.dates of employment and or length of time employed   Indicate part-time work where appropriate to avoid confusion

Activities

Include activities on your data sheet if you have held positions of responsibility or gained work related experience from themDo not list all your activitiesList only those which increase your chances for the jobInclude the name of the activity and any offices that you have heldAlso,list the purpose of the activity if it is not clear

References

Name at least two people who can recommend your skillsFormer employers or teachers are often good choicesAlso,give the name of a friend of good reputation7) who can provide a good character reference for youIn addition to stating what type of reference the person can supplyprofessional,character),include the following

1.full name and address of the reference

2.telephone numberinclude area code

3.titleif the person has one

Good manners dictate that you ask the people for permission before listing their names on your data sheet

Presentation

The data sheet should be well organized and neatly typed so that it is easy to read and nice to look atThe employer may consider the way the data is presented as a sign of your ability to organize materialUse parallel constructions in presenting each part of the data sheetUse short phrases rather than long,complete sentences to give the information

Data sheets should be no longer than one typewritten pageIf you have many jobs and schools to list,include only the most relevant

Use good quality white bond paper and a dark typewriter ribbon when typing the data sheetMake corrections neatlyThere should be no grammartical8),punctuation9),or spelling errors in the data sheetThe employer may form a first impression of you from the looks of the data sheetThis first impression could be the deciding factor when the hiring decision is made

個人簡歷是你最重要的業(yè)績、才干和技能的一份表格。

寫簡歷的第一步是收集個人資料。它包括你所受的教育和社會經(jīng)歷,以及其他諸如社會活動與業(yè)余愛好等材料。然后,你決定哪些事實重要,應(yīng)將它們寫入簡歷。各人的情況都是不一樣的。所以,寫個人簡歷沒有單一的模式,也沒有組織編寫的固定單一的方法。你必須仔細選擇那些你認為能夠幫助你贏得某份工作的事實材料,并且刪除那些你認為無益的東西。絕大多數(shù)個人簡歷包括如下一些內(nèi)容:

1.個人資料

2.教育

3.工作經(jīng)歷

4.社會活動

5.推薦人

你的強項應(yīng)予大力強調(diào),應(yīng)寫在個人簡歷的最前邊。例如:如你沒有多少工作經(jīng)歷,那就要強調(diào)你的教育程度或社會活動,把它們置于簡歷的最前列。如你有相關(guān)的工作經(jīng)歷,那就把它放在前面。通常,放在開頭的資料最能得到閱讀者的注意。如果列在前面的資料不吸引人,雇主可能就不會讀下去。

個人資料

以下是一些你可能要列入簡歷中的個人資料類別。

1.你的姓名

2.地址和電話號碼

3.求職目標

讓雇主盡量詳細地了解你是大有益處的。然而,法律禁止列入那些可能被利用來進行歧視的個人問題。你可能需要在簡歷中列入如下內(nèi)容:

1.出生日期

2.性別

3.健康狀況

(如有殘疾,應(yīng)列出它為何不影響你應(yīng)聘那份工作的令人信服的理由。如果你認為面試時談比較合適的話,你可不寫入殘疾狀況。)

教育

一個接受教育較多而缺乏工作經(jīng)歷的學(xué)生,在簡歷中應(yīng)該先寫教育狀況,后寫工作經(jīng)歷。教育部分應(yīng)列入如下內(nèi)容:

1.所入各學(xué)校的名稱、校址、入學(xué)日期、學(xué)位

2.獲得的特別獎勵

3.主修課程

4.與所申請工作有關(guān)的能增加你實力的課程

工作經(jīng)歷

對于那些有過多種有關(guān)的工作經(jīng)歷的應(yīng)聘者,工作經(jīng)歷部分是簡歷中最重要的部分。多數(shù)應(yīng)聘者至少要列出某項有薪水的工作經(jīng)歷。你還應(yīng)列上那些即使看起來與你的應(yīng)聘工作無關(guān)的工作經(jīng)歷,因為你曾從事過某項工作這一事實也是一種推薦參考。列出所有的有酬工作,從最近一項工作開始,按時間倒著排列。

就業(yè)經(jīng)歷方面的資料應(yīng)包括:

1公司名稱及地址

2.所擔任的工作職位及類型

3.受聘日期和(或)工作期限 如系非全日工作,請標明,以免造成誤會。

社會活動

你簡歷上所列入的社會活動,應(yīng)是那些你所擔任的某些負責工作或從中獲得了相關(guān)的工作經(jīng)驗的活動。不要列出所有的社會活動。只需列出那些能增強你應(yīng)聘機會的活動。其中應(yīng)寫明活動的名稱和你所擔任的職務(wù)。如果有不清楚的地方,你還需介紹一下該項活動的宗旨。

推薦人

至少寫明兩名可以推薦你的技能的人。前雇主或老師常常是最好的人選。此外,還要寫上能證明你人品好的有聲望的朋友的名字。除了要寫明推薦人對你專業(yè)和人品可提供哪種推薦材料外,還要寫入下列內(nèi)容:

1.推薦人的全名和地址

2.電話號碼(包括地區(qū)代號)

3.職務(wù)(如果推薦人有的話)

在將他們的姓名列入你的簡歷前,最好先征得他們的同意。

陳述與格式

個人簡歷應(yīng)組織有序,打印整潔,悅目易讀。雇主可能把提交的簡歷看作是你組織材料能力的表現(xiàn)。在陳述每個部分時要采用同一的結(jié)構(gòu)形式,用短語而不要用完整的長句。

個人簡歷不可太長,不要超出一張打印紙。如果你有多種工作經(jīng)歷和學(xué)歷,只需列出最有關(guān)的即可。

打印個人簡歷時需用優(yōu)質(zhì)上乘白紙與黑色打字機墨帶。修改要干凈整潔。不應(yīng)存在語法、標點或拼寫錯誤。雇主可能從你簡歷的外觀形成對你的第一印象,而這第一印象可能是雇用與否的決定性因素。
