Appreciate What You Have
I used to be grievous due to what I've lost,as the majority of people do,neglecting what I've already possessed. However,an unexpected incident changed my point of view and taught me to appreciate what I have, which I've benefited from.
When I was in Grade Eight,I was a member of our school choir.Confident of my sweet voice,I was delighted to enter for the singing competition.Undoubtedly,I was applauded when I finished my last high note, thus being sure to win. However, the first prize didn't belong to me.Shocked and grievous,I couldn't help but weep in a small voice.I lost the first prize I've been dreaming of! Just then,a handkerchief was passed in front of me.I raised my head, and saw my friend Alice.“Cheer up! You did perform well to the audience, didn't you?You shouldn't stick to what you lost, but should appreciate what you have. You got the second prize and more importantly, you are gifted with a beautiful voice with which you can succeed next time!” A warm smile and words of comfort relieved me of my grief, and I was no longer in low spirits.
The incident left a deep impression on me in that it taught me the importance of appreciating what I have.Since life is full of difficulties,I can't stick to the grief of what I've lost.Only by appreciating what I have can I have a positive mind with which to embrace my future life. Both the incident and my friend's words will be cherished for good, reminding me to become positive at my life's crossroads.
