LEARNING A LANGUAGE

laurance--I give up!I simply can't learn French!
soony--Why do you say that?I think you're making
       a lot of progress.
laurance--No,I'm not.I try and try and I still can't
          speak it very well.
soony--Learning any language takes a lot of effort.
       But don't give up.Why don't we practice those
       dialogs together?
laurance--Good idea.That just might help.

注解：
1）give up=stop trying,不再做努力。與keep up trying是一對(duì)反義詞組。
2）make progress：是固定搭配。意思是取得進(jìn)步/進(jìn)展
3）take a lot of effort:take在這里有“需要”“花費(fèi)”的意思。
