Identifying numbers and letters: 1. flight numbers 2. gate numbers

Directions: Here are some announcements broadcast at an airport. Listen carefully to each announcement. Pay special attention to the flight number and the gate number. Write them in the correct spaces.

Key:

1. Attention, please. Central Airlines Flight 602 from Chicago. Now arriving at Gate 4.

2. This is the last call for Midwestern Airlines Flight 543 for Milwaukee. All passengers please board at Gate 2.

3. Your attention, please. Central Airlines Flight 401 for Chicago. Now boarding at Gate 3.

4. Midwestern Airlines Flight 641 from Milwaukee … Now arriving at Gate 5.

5. Your attention, please. Pan American flight number 541 for Madrid is now boarding at gate number 9. Passengers please proceed to immigration.

6. British Airways to Nairobi and Johannesburg flight number BA 51. Boarding now at gate number 13 Flight number BA 51. Boarding now at gate number 13.

7. Iran Air to Paris and Tehran flight number IR 730. Final call. Boarding now at gate number 7.

8. Mainland Airlines announce the departure of Flight MA 74 to New York. Will passengers for this flight please go to Gate 6.

9. Anglan Airlines Flight AA 55 to St. Francis is now boarding. Will passengers for St. Francis please go to Gate 10.

10. This is the final call for passengers travelling to Athens. Flight OA 278 is now boarding. Passengers are kindly requested to proceed to Gate 24.

Steve: Phew ! I had to run all the way to make it.

Stewardess: You are a little late. May I see your boardingpass ?

Steve: Let's see. Where did I put it ? Oh, here it is.I hope I got the non-smoking section. I was in

such a hurry.

Stewardess: Yes, you did. It's seat 32C on the aisle.

Steve: Miss, this is my first flight. I wonder if you couldshow me the ropes ?

Stewardess: Don't be embarrassed ! Every one has to maketheir first flight sometime. I'd be glad to. That'swhat we are here for.

Steve: Thanks, I don't even know how to find my seat.

Stewardess: They are all numbered. Just go straight back andanother stewardess will show you where to sit and how to fasten your safety belt.

Steve: And then … ?

Stewardess: Then listen to the intercom for further instructions.

Steve:  Thank you.

Stewardess:  Don't mention it. I'll come back later to see that you are O.K.

Steve:  Thanks again.

Stewardess:  Hello there. How are you doing ?

Steve: Fine so far, but my ears feel a little funny.

Stewardess: That's the air pressure. You'll get used to it in a little while.

Steve: Can I unfasten my seat belt now ?

Stewardess: As soon as the light above your seat goes off, then you can get up and walk around.

Steve: Will there be a movie ?

Stewardess: Yes, but not until after we have served dinner.

Steve: Will that be soon ?

Stewardess: Yes, right away. You must be hungry.

Steve: Not very, but I would like a drink, please.

Stewardess: I'll bring you one. Would you like a coke, Sevenup, beer, wine …

Steve: Just water, please.

Stewardess: Would you like to see a magazine ?

Steve: Yes, I like to look at News week please and could you tell me where to find the restroom ?

Stewardess: It's right back to the rear of the plane.

Steve: I'm grateful for your help.
