A: Hey, so Ruth, how do you get your news?
 
嗨，魯斯，你是如何獲取新聞的？
 
B: Oh, I buy a newspaper.

A: Oh, really, what paper do you read?

B: I always read the Guardian.

A: The Guardian. Is that conservative or liberal?
 
《衛(wèi)報》。那份報紙是傾向保守還是傾向自由？
 
B: Oh, it's labor.
 
哦，傾向于自由。
 
A: Labor. So the Labor newspaper, the Guardian, what angle do they have? Like in the States you'd say it's either conservative, like the Wall street Journal, or it's liberal, like the New York Times.
 
自由。那自由派的報紙《衛(wèi)報》會用什么角度來發(fā)表文章？就像在美國，報紙不是保守派就是自由派，保守派的代表是《華爾街日報》，而自由派的代表則是《紐約時報》。
 
B: OK, it would be more like the New York Times.
 
好，那它與《紐約時報》類似。
 
A: Oh, like the New York Times.
 
與《紐約時報》類似。
 
B: Yeah.
 
是的。
 
A: Actually, I don't even read papers anymore.

B: What!

A: I mean, I read them online, but I just prefer to get everything on the internet.

B: So, you just read the newspaper on the internet?

A: Pretty much. Yeah, I never pay for a paper paper anymore.

B: What! Don't you think that is really anti-social, looking at a screen all day?

A: Yeah, but how much more social is it looking at a paper?

B: Well, I don't know. I guess it's not much more social, but I don't know, at least if you read a newspaper, you can read it outside in the fresh air, for example.

A: Well, that's true. I guess so, but it's free, and I know how you're always saving money.

B: Well, that's true but, I think the Guardian is a good newspaper so I like to support them.

A: I have to admit I do like to go out on Sunday and get a paper and a coffee. Yeah, it's nice.

B: Yeah, even like just walking to the shop to get the newspaper is quite nice.

A: Yeah, the thing is though, I don't like how the print media, or newspapers that you buy, have such limited space, and on the internet you can get such a wider range of information that it's just a lot better I think, cause these days I don't know if you can really trust what they put in the newspapers.
 
是這樣沒錯，不過我不喜歡印刷報紙是因為它們有空間的限制，而在網(wǎng)絡(luò)上你可以得到更廣泛的消息，我認(rèn)為這要好很多，因為我不知道最近還能不能相信報紙上報道的消息。
 
B: Yeah, I'm not sure that you always can, but I think TV is the same and I think the internet is exactly the same.
 
是啊，我也不確定，不過我認(rèn)為電視新聞也是一樣的情況，而網(wǎng)絡(luò)當(dāng)然也是這樣。
 
A: Yeah, that's actually why I like radio news, cause I think radio news is a lot more in depth. You can actually hear the person talking, and unlike TV that has very short clips, radio news usually has longer segments, so I am a big fan of that.
 
對，實際上這就是我喜歡聽廣播新聞的原因，因為我認(rèn)為廣播新聞更具深度。你可以聽到人們的談話，不像電視新聞都是很短的片段，廣播新聞通常報道時間更長，所以我是廣播新聞的擁躉。
 
B: Yeah, I like the radio, but you can't see the pictures and I don't have a very good imagination, so I like to see the pictures.

A: Ah, I just love the voice. I love when they go, "And now to our correspondent in blah-blah-blah." It just sounds cool.

B: No, you're right, it does sound good. And it's free as well.

A: Well, I have the internet in my apartment so anytime you want to read the internet news just come on over.

B: Oh, thanks very much. Also, I have a newspaper in my apartment and I get a subscription so, come along and read the newspaper at my flat.
