On many campuses, we can easily find that it has been a prevalent tendency for universities and colleges to open various electives and compulsory courses. Students have different preferences to attend elective courses. As is often the case, it greatly benefits us college students in many aspects.
As for me, I benefit a lot from the course I chose. In my sophomore studies, I chose World Literature as one of my electives. On a regular basis, there are several factors accounting for my preference and benefits. Initially, I took great interest in Literature and charmed by the prestige of the lecturer for this course plays a critical role. Additionally, Courses like World Literature are a beneficial supplement to our college studies. Since nowadays companies are laying great emphasis on a candidate’s practical skills moral standard as well as psychological quality, all-round development in curriculum is a necessity for graduates. Last but not least, reading literature can greatly broaden our mind and vision, motivate our critical and independent thinking, cultivate our patience, peace of mind as well as perfect our selfhood, which further boost my preference above.
To sum up, no one can underestimate the indispensable role of the course we take. For one thing, school should set more comprehensive curricula for college students and an appropriate assessing method for students’ all round development. For another, each course has different top, we should choose the ones that are suitable for us according to our needs.
