西安交通大學(xué)是國(guó)家教育部直屬重點(diǎn)大學(xué)。是首批進(jìn)人國(guó)家“211工程”建設(shè)的七所大學(xué)之一，1999年被國(guó)家確定為我國(guó)中西部地區(qū)唯一一所以建設(shè)世界知名高水平大學(xué)為目標(biāo)的學(xué)校。

The university covers an area of 230 hectares with 2 million square meters of floor space.“Qian Xuesen Library" standing in the center of the campus consists of the library of medicine and the library of finance and economics with 3 300 seats.The library has the collection of over 3. 8 million volumes and 9 256 kinds of periodicals.

學(xué)校占地230余公頃，校舍面積200萬平方米。校園中心區(qū)聳立著的“錢學(xué)森圖書館”，并設(shè)立醫(yī)學(xué)、財(cái)經(jīng)兩個(gè)分館，閱覽座位3 300席;圖書館藏書380余萬余冊(cè)，期刊9 256種。

Xi'an Jiaotong University has developed into a university that has the feature of science and engineering and covers 9 subjects such as science，engineering，medicine，economics，management，art and law. The university comprises 19 colleges and departments and 3 clinical teaching hospitals. It offers 75 undergraduate specialties，199 master's degree programs，114 Ph. D. degree programs. It has 20 state key disciplines，14 posts of“Cheungkong Scholars Program"，9 professional degree programs of engineering，clinical medicine，MBA and MPA and 18 postdoctorate research stations. In addition，it has 4 state key laboratories，4 state subject laboratories，2 state engineering research centers，7 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education，an engineering research center of the Ministry of Education and 2 key laboratories of the Ministry of Health.

西安交通大學(xué)是一所具有理工特色，涵蓋理、工、醫(yī)、經(jīng)、管、文、法等9個(gè)學(xué)科門類的綜合性大學(xué)。學(xué)校設(shè)有19個(gè)學(xué)院(部)和3個(gè)臨床教學(xué)醫(yī)院。全校有75個(gè)本科專業(yè)，199個(gè)學(xué)科(專業(yè))有權(quán)授予碩士學(xué)位，114個(gè)學(xué)科(專業(yè))有權(quán)授予博士學(xué)位。學(xué)校有國(guó)家重點(diǎn)學(xué)科20個(gè)，國(guó)家“長(zhǎng)江學(xué)者計(jì)劃”設(shè)崗學(xué)科14個(gè)。擁有工程碩士、臨床醫(yī)學(xué)碩士和MBA , MPA等9個(gè)專業(yè)學(xué)位點(diǎn)，有18個(gè)博士后流動(dòng)站。學(xué)校有國(guó)家重點(diǎn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室4個(gè)，國(guó)家專業(yè)或?qū)ｍ?xiàng)實(shí)驗(yàn)室4個(gè)，國(guó)家工程研究中心2個(gè)，教育部重點(diǎn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室7個(gè)，教育部工程中心1個(gè)，衛(wèi)生部省重點(diǎn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室2個(gè)。

Xi'an Jiaotong University has the faculty staff of 5 600 and 2 100 full-time faculty members，including 470 Ph. D. supervisors，over 1 200 full and associate professors and over 430 talents with high academic titles. There are also 6 academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences，11 academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering，11 members of the Subject Assessment Division of Degree Appraisal Committee of the State Council，34 members(director and vice director) of the Subject Division and Course Division of the National Teaching Guidance Committee for Higher Education，15 nationally accredited experts with outstanding contributions，560 recipients of special subsidies from the central government with their outstanding contributions to the country and 3 State Outstanding College Lecturers.

現(xiàn)有教職工5 600余人，專任教師2 100余人，其中博士生導(dǎo)師470余人，教授副教授1 200多人，其它各類高級(jí)專業(yè)人才430多人。有中國(guó)科學(xué)院院士6名，中國(guó)工程院院士11名，國(guó)務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會(huì)委員學(xué)科評(píng)議組成員I1名，全國(guó)專業(yè)教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)和課程教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)主任委員、副主任委員及委員34名，國(guó)家級(jí)有突出貢獻(xiàn)專家15名，對(duì)國(guó)家做出突出貢獻(xiàn)并享受政府特殊津貼的專家560余名。國(guó)家級(jí)教學(xué)名師3名。

Glorious History 歷史變遷

1896 The predecessor of Xi'an Jiaotong University-Nanyang Public University was founded in Shanghai.

1896年西安交通大學(xué)的前身南洋公學(xué)創(chuàng)建于上海。

1912 It was renamed Shanghai Special Industrial School of Traffic Department.

1912年改稱為交通部上海工業(yè)專門學(xué)校。

1921 Jiaotong University was set up by merging Shanghai Special Industrial School，Tangshan Special Industrial School，Beiping Railway Management School and Beiping Post Telecommunication School

1921年上海工業(yè)專門學(xué)校、唐山工業(yè)專門學(xué)校、北方鐵路管理學(xué)校和北方郵電學(xué)校合并組建交通大學(xué)。

1956 The State Council decided to move Jiaotong University to Xi'an.

1956年國(guó)務(wù)院決定交通大學(xué)遷往西安。

1959 It was officially renamed Xi'an Jiaotong University.

1959年學(xué)校正式更名為西安交通大學(xué)。

2000 Xi'an Medical University，Shannxi Institute of Fnance and Economics and Xi'an Jiaotong University were merged and formed the new Xi'an Jiaotong University.

2000年西安醫(yī)科大學(xué)、陜西財(cái)經(jīng)學(xué)院與西安交通大學(xué)合并組建新的西安交通大學(xué)。
