有一位同學其中一段的觀點是,通過在社交網(wǎng)站上分享個人信息,人們可以更好的留存自己的記憶。其中例子部分他時這樣寫的:
Last year is my parents' 20th anniversary of marriage. I gave them CDs and photos as gift. These CDs and photos are collected from their Facebook home pages. After receiving my gift, they were deeply impressed.
可以看出,這個段落犯了許多同學容易犯的問題——依然是簡單句的大量堆砌。然而,想要把這段文字改正比較好的復合句,其實并不難,首先我們要從每一句話在這個例子中所起的作用是什么:
Last year is my parents' 20th anniversary of marriage. 這句說的是時間發(fā)生的時間
I gave them CDs and photos as gift. 這是整件事的核心。
These CDs and photos are collected from their Facebook home pages. 這是對禮物的句子描述,也就是定語。
After receiving my gift, they were deeply impressed. 這句說的是時間發(fā)生之后的結(jié)果。
這樣分析就非常簡單了,只要把每一個部分起到的作用后面加上“從句”兩個字,這個句子的改寫方法就呼之欲出了。
Last year is my parents' 20th anniversary of marriage.可以改成時間狀語從句,加上when
I gave them CDs and photos as gift.不變
These CDs and photos are collected from their Facebook home pages.可改成定語從句,加上which
After receiving my gift, they were deeply impressed.可改成結(jié)果狀語從句,也可以選擇用非謂語動詞表示結(jié)果。
把這些句子重新組合在一起,就可以這樣寫:
For instance, when it comes to my parents' 20th anniversary of marriage last year, I gave them CDs and photos, which were collected from their Facebook home pages, as gift, impressing them deeply.
由此我們可以看出,只需要適當?shù)男薷模瑒偛胚€是簡單句的羅列,現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)成為了比較規(guī)范的復合句。自然這些句子還可以寫得更好,如可以選擇更貼切的詞匯。但對于許多還不習慣使用復合句的學生而言,這已經(jīng)是符合ETS要求的規(guī)范的句式。
