35. 過生日

Depending on the family habits, birthdays can be celebrated in a variety of ways. Most Chinese these days celebrate the birthday on the Western calendar, but some, especially the older generation, still mark their birthdays based on the lunar calendar. The grandest birthday celebration is in the sixtieth year. It is not uncommon at this celebration to give symbols of longevity, like miniature old trees showing the strength built over the passage of time. After this special celebration, a birthday celebration is held every ten years. It is the grown children of the elderly who celebrate their parents' birthdays to show deep respect and gratitude for them.

根據(jù)家庭習(xí)慣不同，生日可以有多種慶祝方式。當(dāng)今大多數(shù)中國人都慶祝陽歷（the solar calendar）生日，但是有些人，尤其是老一輩人，仍按陰歷（the lunar calendar）來慶祝生日。六十歲生日的慶祝儀式是最隆重的。在這樣的慶祝儀式上，人們通常會送給老人象征長壽（longevity）的禮物，比如帶有歲月印記的微型長壽樹。在這次特別的慶祝之后，每十年會再慶祝一次生日。老人的成年子女通過為父母過壽來表達(dá)對他們深深的敬意和感激。
