Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.

But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.

作者威廉•巴特勒•葉芝 William Butler Yeats(1865.6.13—1939.1.28),愛爾蘭著名的詩人、劇作家和神秘主義者。葉芝也是“愛爾蘭文藝復(fù)興運動”的領(lǐng)袖,艾比劇院(Abbey Theatre)的創(chuàng)建者之一,他于1923年獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎,這也說明了為什么Salley Garden 如此地富有詩意。
