Dream and Poetry

It's all ordinary experience,
All ordinary images.
By chance they emerge in a dream,
Turning out infinite new patterns.

It's all ordinary feelings,
All ordinary words.
By chance they encounter a poet,
Turning out infinite new verses.

Once intoxicated, one learns the strength of wine,
Once smitten, one learns the power of love:
You cannot write my poems
Just as I cannot dream your dreams.

夢(mèng)與詩(shī)

都是平常經(jīng)驗(yàn)，
都是平常影像，
偶然涌到夢(mèng)中來(lái)，
變幻出多少新奇花樣！
都是平常情感，
都是平常言語(yǔ)，
偶然碰著個(gè)詩(shī)人，
變幻出多少新奇詩(shī)句！
醉過(guò)才知酒濃，
愛(ài)過(guò)才知情重；
你不能做我的詩(shī)，
正如我不能做你的夢(mèng)。

All are common experiences,　都是平常經(jīng)驗(yàn)
All are ordinary images,　　　都是平常影象
Once they happen to come into dreams。偶然涌到夢(mèng)中來(lái)
What novelties they can make,　變幻出多少新奇花樣
All are ordinary feelings,　都是平常情感
All are common words,　　都是平常言語(yǔ)
Once a poet happen to catch them，　偶然碰到個(gè)詩(shī)人
What magic poetry they can create !　變幻出多少新奇詩(shī)句
One never knows how strong is the wine until drunk, 醉過(guò)才知酒濃
One never knows how deep is the feeling until love.　愛(ài)過(guò)才知情重
　 You are not able to write my poems,　你不能寫我的詩(shī)
As I cannot dream you dreams.　就象我不能做你的夢(mèng)。
