President Joe Biden, 81, and First Lady Jill Biden, 72, will be paying their respects to former First Lady Rosalynn Carter in Georgia on Nov. 28.

The former first lady will then be taken to the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library and Museum in Atlanta, where members of the public are invited to pay respects while she lies in repose from 6 to 10 p.m. local time.

Married to the 39th president, Jimmy Carter, for 77 years, the former first lady broke barriers with her advocacy for mental health and human rights. As first lady, she served as the honorary chair of the President’s Commission on Mental Health, and helped usher through the 1980 passage of the Mental Health Systems Act.

She will be sorely missed not only by our family but by the many people who have better mental health care and access to resources for caregiving today.”
