ABC is set to revive its popular series Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in the upcoming TV season. Hosted by Ty Pennington, the reality series aired from 2004 to 2012. An HGTV edition of it aired briefly in 2020, when it was hosted by Modern Family alum Jessie Tyler Ferguson.

This go round, which the network called a "new iteration," will be hosted by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin, the cofounders of lifestyle brand The Home Edit. The duo have already authored three New York Times bestselling books and hosted their own show on Netflix, Get Organized with The Home Edit.

The original version of the home renovation show was known for moving viewers. In each episode, Pennington and company would swoop in and fix up someone's home in about a week. The recipients were typically a deserving family, dealing with serious illness, a military assignment, or some other hardship, who needed help in making the most of their space. Tears were a common sight at the end of each installment, when the community would gather around the still-hidden glammed-up dwelling and shout to see how it looked.
