讓優(yōu)秀成為一種習慣（雙語）

Our character, basically, is a composite of our habits. “Sow a thought, reap an action; sow an action, reap a habit; sow a habit, reap a character; sow a character, reap a destiny,” the maxim goes.

從根本上來講，我們的個性是塑成習慣的成分之一。有一句箴言講到：“播下一個想法，收獲一個行動;播下一個行動，收獲一個習慣;播下一個習慣，收獲一個性格;播下一個性格，收獲一份命運。”

Habits are powerful factors in our lives. Because they are consistent, often unconscious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character and produce our effectiveness or ineffectiveness.

習慣是我們生活中有力的因素。因為習慣的持續(xù)性，人們常常不能意識到它們。于是，每一天，我們的習慣總在彰顯著我們的性格，我們是否有效率也源自習慣。

As Horace Mann, the great educator, once said, “Habits are like a cable. We weave a strand of it everyday and soon it cannot be broken.” I personally do not agree with the last part of his expression. I know habits can be learned and unlearned. But I also know it isn't a quick fix. It involves a process and a tremendous commitment.

正如偉大的教育學家霍瑞斯·曼曾經(jīng)說的那樣：“習慣猶如一根纜繩。我們每日為其編織一股，不久它便不容易斷裂。”我個人不認同他最后一段的表達。我知曉有些習慣是后天習得的，而有些則是不學就有的?？晌乙裁靼琢晳T無法速成，它是一段涉及鄭重承諾的過程。

You cannot find or will you ever find gold on the surface. It has to be discovered and has to be found deep inside the Earth's ground. And it takes years to find the gold and this is why it is so valuable; Not everyone has it.

在地面永遠都不可能找到黃金。黃金是需要發(fā)掘的，而且只能在地底深處找到。這個過程很費時間，所以黃金才那么珍貴，不是每個人都能夠擁有。

Character is the same. You will not find character on the surface. You can only find character deep inside your soul. And your character is only discovered when there is chaos. Your character is never tested when things are going your way.

品質(zhì)也是如此。你無法在表面找到你的品質(zhì)，而只能在靈魂深處找到。只有混亂發(fā)生的時候你才會發(fā)現(xiàn)它，只有在事情不順心的時候你的品質(zhì)才會得到考驗。

You have to dig deep inside of you to find the character and when you do that you will discover the true gold.

向自我的深處挖掘，尋找你的品質(zhì)，這樣你就會發(fā)現(xiàn)真正的黃金。

You are consistently remembered on how you treat others. Are you kind or unkind? Do you have manners? Are you respectful? These are the questions we ask each other.

你對待他人的方式往往會被別人記在心里。你待人和善嗎?你大方得體嗎?你尊重別人嗎?我們總會互相問這樣的問題。

This is why your character is your gold mine. You must guard your character just like you would guard your gold. Do not let anyone take it or destroy it.

這就是為什么說你的品質(zhì)是你的金礦。你一定要守護你的品質(zhì)，就像你會守護自己的黃金一樣。不要讓別人拿走它或破壞它。

People will test you in life and events in life will shake you. However, when this happens please look deep inside and find your character because your character will help you succeed any event.

在生活中，有的人會考驗你，有的事情會使你動搖。但是，當這些出現(xiàn)的時候，請看看自己的內(nèi)心深處，尋找你的品質(zhì)，因為你的品質(zhì)能幫助你應對一切。

Your character is your gold.

你的品質(zhì)就是你的黃金。
