[04:49.31]Passage An Interview
[04:55.84]Mr.Raymond Lee,Director of Personnel at the Dallas Electric Company,
[05:04.17]gives some advice on how to be successful in a job interview:
[05:10.94]First,plan well.
[05:15.79]One type of planning is to list all paid or volunteer work you have done,
[05:23.34]where you did it,who your boss was, exactly what you did,
[05:30.32]and what you have learned there, that is,
[05:35.36]how the experience has helped you grow profes-sionally.
[05:41.13]You also need to think about what kind of person you are.
[05:47.30]What you like to do and why.
[05:51.66]If you haven't thought about that ahead of time, you're asking for trouble.
[05:59.24]Second,be yourself. It's really important for the interviewer to like you
[06:08.38]and want to give you a chance.
[06:12.32]Show enthusiasm for hard work,
[06:17.29]talk about how you have handled daily problems well,
[06:22.85]show that you want to succeed in what you do.
[06:28.81]This is very important if there is more than one applicant,
[06:35.26]who has the basic quali-fications.
[06:39.91]Third,relax and have a conversation with the interviewer.
[06:48.37]Fourth,give no simple yes-no answers. Always give examples.
[06:58.35]Talk about yourself and what you've done enthusiastically and in detail.
[07:06.61]Lastly,be sure you know what kind of business a company or organization does.
[07:15.96]And be sure you dress for business, not for a sporting event.
