“是目前為止還沒有。”他補(bǔ)充道。
"Yet," I agreed; I would have argued, but now Iwanted him to be expecting disasters.
“是啊。”我贊同道。我本應(yīng)該和他爭(zhēng)論的，但現(xiàn)在我只想讓他的期望落空。
"I have another question for you." His face was stillcasual.
“我還有另一個(gè)問題要問你。”他依然是一臉漫不經(jīng)心的神情。
"Shoot."
“有話直說。”
"Do you really need to go to Seattle this Saturday, or was that just an excuse to get out ofsaying no to all your admirers?"
“這周六你真的需要去西雅圖嗎，或者這只是用來對(duì)你所有的傾慕者說不的借口?”
I made a face at the memory. "You know, I haven't forgiven you for the Tyler thing yet," Iwarned him. "It's your fault that he's deluded himself into thinking I'm going to prom with him."
想起這件事，我就不由得做了個(gè)鬼臉：“你要知道，我還沒原諒你泰勒那件事呢。”我警告他。“都是你的錯(cuò)，他才會(huì)自欺欺人地想著我會(huì)和他一起去正式舞會(huì)。”
"Oh, he would have found a chance to ask you without me — I just really wanted to watch yourface," he chuckled, I would have been angrier if his laughter wasn't so fascinating. "If I'd askedyou, would you have turned me down?" he asked, still laughing to himself.
“噢，就算沒有我他也會(huì)找到機(jī)會(huì)邀請(qǐng)你的——我只是想看看你的表情，”他輕笑著。如果不是他的笑聲如此迷人的話，我本來會(huì)更生氣些的。“如果我曾邀請(qǐng)你，你會(huì)拒絕我嗎?”他問道，依然向自己大笑著。
"Probably not," I admitted. "But I would have canceled later — faked an illness or a sprainedankle."
“也許不會(huì)。”我坦承道。“但稍后我會(huì)食言的——捏造病情或者假裝扭傷腳踝。”
He was puzzled. "Why would you do that?"
他很困惑：“為什么你要這樣做呢?”
I shook my head sadly. "You've never seen me in Gym, I guess, but I would have thought youwould understand."
我悲哀地?fù)u了搖頭。“我猜，你沒見過我上體育課的樣子，但我原本以為你會(huì)理解的。”
"Are you referring to the fact that you can't walk across a flat, stable surface without findingsomething to trip over?"
“你是在談?wù)撃銢]法走過一段平坦的，穩(wěn)固的路面而找不到任何東西來絆倒你的這個(gè)事實(shí)嗎?”
"Obviously."
“很顯然。”
"That wouldn't be a problem." He was very confident. "It's all in the leading." He could see thatI was about to protest, and he cut me off. "But you never told me — are you resolved on goingto Seattle, or do you mind if we do something different?"
“那不會(huì)是個(gè)問題。”他很有把握地說。“這取決于誰(shuí)來領(lǐng)你跳舞。”他看得出我正要提出異議，于是他打斷了我。“可你還沒告訴我——你是不是非去西雅圖不可，或者說，你是否介意我們?nèi)プ鳇c(diǎn)別的事?”
