I have to ask the top kick.
我得請示上級。
ask the top kick 是起源于美國軍隊(duì)的一條俚語，top kick同first sergeant，在美國俚語中指：“軍士長”，那么這個(gè)短語的意思也就是：“請示軍士長”，引申為：“請示領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，請示上級”。因此，當(dāng)美國人說"I have to ask the top kick."時(shí)，他/她要表達(dá)的意思就是:"I can't make the decisions, and I have to ask my superior."、"I shall ask the leader for instructions."。
