名校勵(lì)志英語演講 第78期:追隨自己的心聲,你們一定會成功
There's so many lesson in this, because at some point, something in life is going to eat you inside. It could be anger; it could be guilt; it could be past hurts or some other strain of soul eating bacteria. But graduates, I want you to know that if you can summon the courage of Monica George in the face of your own life's hardships, and you will have them, and if you can remember what good are you to anyone if you're miserable, I know for sure you'll be a huge success, because you are responsible for your happiness and you are responsible for the energy you bring to everyone.
這件事中蘊(yùn)含了許多哲理。有時(shí)候，生活中的某一件事就可以把你毀掉，或許因?yàn)閼嵟?，或許因?yàn)樽飷海蛟S因?yàn)檫^去受過的傷，或許因?yàn)榫衿v。但是畢業(yè)生們，我希望你們明白，如果你們記得整天像莫妮卡·喬治一樣鼓起勇氣直面人生的挫折;如果你們記得整天傷心對別人根本沒有任何好處的話，我敢肯定你們定會大有作為，因?yàn)樽龅竭@些你們就做到了對自己的幸福負(fù)責(zé)，對給其他人所帶來的影響負(fù)責(zé)。
One of my other favorite guests was a woman named Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, who's a brain scientist, who had a stroke in the left hemisphere of her brain. She wrote a book called My Stroke of Insight. And so only the right hemisphere was working and when she was in the hospital as a patient, she said she could sense through her right brain when a nurse would come into the room and meant her well, or when the nurse was thinking about what time shew as going to be off that day. She could sense the energy that was brought into the room. And after a while, she put up a sign in the room that said to everyone who came in the room, you are responsible for the energy that you bring. I love that moment, because we are responsible for the energy that we bring to everyone we do in life.
我最喜歡的另外一位嘉賓是吉爾·博爾特·泰勒博士，她是位腦體科學(xué)家，同時(shí)她自己的左腦也受到過重創(chuàng)。吉爾寫了一部書《我的重創(chuàng)觀察記》。雖然只有右腦可以正常工作，但在住院期間，她說她能通過右腦很好地感知護(hù)士何時(shí)要來，對她做了什么，何時(shí)下班。她能感知到帶入病房的任何能量。不久，她就在病房里貼了個(gè)牌子，告訴進(jìn)病房的所有人：你們要對自己帶進(jìn)來的能量負(fù)責(zé)。我喜歡那一刻，因?yàn)槲覀円獮樯钪心軌虍a(chǎn)生能量的所有行為負(fù)責(zé)。
