First up, a significant legal ruling. It concerns President Obama`s executive action on immigration. He announced it last November. The action would have allowed as many as 5 million living in the U.S. illegally to stay in the country without the threat of being deported.
首先,今天的新聞首相要說的是一個(gè)重要的法律裁決。這條決定關(guān)于總統(tǒng)奧巴馬移民政策的實(shí)施。他于去年11月份宣布這一決定。決定將允許500萬人口可以合法在美國居住不會受到被驅(qū)逐出境的威脅。
Most of those affected are the parents of children born in the U.S. As an executive action, this did not go through Congress. The White House says it`s legal. But no executive action had involved that many people before. And 26 states challenged it in court.
最受這條決定影響的是孩子出生在美國境內(nèi)的父母。但是這一決定沒有通過國會的認(rèn)定。白宮方面表示這一決定是合法的。但是在此之前從沒有一條決定涉及如此多的人口。并且現(xiàn)在有26個(gè)州立法院對這一決定發(fā)出挑戰(zhàn)。
