dialogue 1
L:Today more and more people advocate lifelong learning. But people have different views about lifelong learning. How do you understand lifelong learning?
C:I think lifelong learning is the concept that it's never too soon or too late for learning
L:Does that mean studying all the time?
C:I don't think so. I think it's about your attitude towards learning. One should be open to new ideas, decisions, skills or behaviors.
L:Then the axiom -'You can't teach an old dog new tricks' doesn't work any longer.
C:You're right. Lifelong learning is about finding learning opportunities at all ages and in numerous contexts
at work, at home and through leisure activities. It is not limited to higher education.
L:Yes, I agree with you. When I retired I will participate in programs to keep mementally active.
C:Me too. To keep up with the changing world, one must be involved in lifelong learning and be ready to accept new things.
L:You know what? I've recently been teaching myself French.
C:Really? That's great! I know that your company has a lot of clients in France.
L:Yes, so I want to learn French to develop my career.
dialogue 2
L:Hello, Chandler! How are you?
C:Fine. And you?
很好.
L:Just so so. I am too tired. My company has been holding too many training sessions lately.
C:That's good. Not evey company provides employees with training opportunity. It seems that your company wants to further develop their employees and encouragelifelong learning.
L:Good?! For them but not to me.
C:So, what's the problem?
L:We have to participate in training after a busy day and during the weekend. You know, after work all you want to do is throw yourself onto your bed. And during the Weekend, you just want to stay at home and enjoy a family dinner.
C:Yes, you are right. But one should keep learning daily to maintain our keen mental power expand our intellectual capacity. Constant learning drive us to Sharp our power of reasoning, analysis and judgement.
L:Yes, I agree with you on the point but couldn't the training be held during the working day instead of weekend?
C:Yes, you are right. I think weekend is the time for family gathering aad rest Maybe you could make that suggestion to your boss.
