C: Excuse me, I'd like to have these pants I bought here yesterday altered. Here's my receipt.

顧　客：對不起，我想改一下昨天買的這些褲子。這是我的收據(jù)。

S: Certainly, sir. What would you like done to them?

接待員：沒問題，先生。您想怎么改?

C: They're a little bit too long, so I'd like about half an inch taken off them.

顧　客：它們有點太長了，我想改短大約半?yún)肌?/p>

S: All right, sir. They should be ready for you by tomorrow afternoon.

接待員：好的，先生。明天中午就會好了。

C: Thank you very much.

1.pants n.褲子(恒用復數(shù))

a pair of pants 一條褲子

注意：

因為褲子有兩條褲管， 所以恒用復數(shù)。 其他類似用法尚有 scissors(剪刀，有兩片刀片)，trousers(長褲， 有兩條褲管)，glasses(眼鏡， 有兩片鏡片)。

2.alter vt.修改

例：A publisher can't alter a book without the author's permission.

(出版商未經作者的同意不能刪改書。)

3.receipt n.收據(jù)

4.take sth off 　把某物拿掉

例：John took the bumper stickers off his car.

(約翰把車子保險杠的貼紙拿掉。)
