　　Dave's class at school were studying English history, and one day their teacher said to them, “Well, boys, on Friday we're all going to get on a bus and go to Conway. There's a beautiful castle there, and we're going to visitit.” The boys were very happy when they heard this.

　　Dave他們班在學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí)英國(guó)歷史，有一天他們老師跟他們說(shuō)，“哎，男孩們，我們周五要乘公共汽車(chē)去康威，那里有一個(gè)漂亮的城堡，我們會(huì)去參觀它。”男孩們聽(tīng)到這個(gè)消息時(shí)非常開(kāi)心。

　　"Now, has anybody got any questions?" the teacher asked.

　　“現(xiàn)在，有誰(shuí)有問(wèn)題要問(wèn)嗎?”老師問(wèn)。

　　"How old is the castle, sir?" Dave asked.

　　Dave問(wèn)：“這個(gè)城堡建立多久了，老師?”

　　"It's about seven hundred years old, Dave." the teacher answered.

　　“它已經(jīng)有七百年歷史了，Dave。”老師回答。

　　"What's the name of the castle, sir?" another boy asked.

　　“那這個(gè)城堡叫什么名字呢?”另一個(gè)男孩問(wèn)。

　　"Conway Castle." the teacher said.

　　“康威城堡。”老師說(shuō)。

　　On Friday the boys came to school at 9 o'clock and got into the bus. They visited Conway Castle, and then they came back and went home.

　　男孩們周五九點(diǎn)去學(xué)校上了公交車(chē)，他們參觀了康威城堡后就回家了。

　　“Well,” Dave's mother said to him when he got home, “did you like the castle, Dave?”

　　“哎，”Dave一回到家他媽媽就問(wèn)他，“你喜歡那座城堡嗎，Dave?”

　　“Not very much,” Dave answered. “The stupid people built it too near the railway.”

　　“不怎么喜歡，”Dave回答，“那些愚蠢的人把它建得離鐵路太近了。”

　　Text B What Are You Going to Do?

　　Robert and Peter are talking about the end of the school term. Robert is going to leave school and start work, but Peter is going to stay at school.

　　Robert and Peter正在討論學(xué)期末的事。Robert就將要離開(kāi)學(xué)校去工作了，但是Peter仍將留在學(xué)校。

　　PETER: Are you going to leave school at the end of the term?

　　PETER：你學(xué)期末要離開(kāi)學(xué)校了嗎?

　　ROBERT: Yes, I am.

　　ROBERT：是的。

　　PETER: What are you going to do?

　　PETER：你打算干什么?

　　ROBERT: I'm going to be a clerk.

　　ROBERT：我打算做一名辦事員。

　　PETER: What does a clerk do?

　　PETER：辦事員是干什么的?

　　ROBERT: He works in an office. He writes letters and reports, and he types.

　　ROBERT：辦事員是在辦公室工作的，他寫(xiě)信和文章，還有打字。

　　PETER: I want to be a vet.

　　我想做一名獸醫(yī)。

　　ROBERT: A-what?

　　ROBERT：做什么?

　　PETER: A vet-a veterinary surgeon.

　　PETER：a vet 就是獸醫(yī)。

　　ROBERT: Good gracious !What's that?

　　ROBERT：天啊!那是什么職業(yè)?

　　PETER: A vet's a man who takes care of sick animals. He's an animal doctor.

　　PETER：獸醫(yī)就是一個(gè)照顧好生病的動(dòng)物的職業(yè)，他是位動(dòng)物醫(yī)生。

　　ROBERT: I once read a story about a person who talked to animals. It was very interesting.

　　ROBERT：我曾經(jīng)聽(tīng)說(shuō)過(guò)一個(gè)關(guān)于一個(gè)人跟動(dòng)物說(shuō)話的故事。那有趣極了。

　　Mrs. Neat

　　Mrs. Neat was tidy and orderly. One day she got on a bus, went up on top and sat down. When the conductor asked her for her fare, she opened her bag, took out her purse, closed her bag, opened her purse, took out ashilling, closed her purse, opened her bag, put in her purse and closed her bag. She paid her fare. The conductor gave her a ticket.
