精靈鼠小弟 第55期:鼠小弟購買衣物

While Dr. Carey was making repairs on the car, Stuart went shopping.

在凱里醫(yī)生修理那輛小車時(shí)，斯圖亞特到商店去了。

He decided that, since he was about to take a long motor trip, he should have the proper clothes.

因?yàn)樗耄热灰鲆淮伍L途汽車旅行，就該買一些合適的衣服。

He went to a doll's shop, where they had things which were the right size for him,

他來到一家玩具店，那里有不少完全適合他的用品，

and outfitted himself completely, with new luggage, suits, shirts, and accessories.

包括新行李，外套，襯衫，還有其他的一些小東西。

He charged everything and was well pleased with his purchases.

他很高興能把這些東西每一樣都買下。

That night he slept at the Doctor's apartment.

那天晚上他睡在醫(yī)生的公寓里。

The next morning, Stuart started early, to avoid traffic.

第二天，因?yàn)榕侣飞先?，斯圖亞特起得特別早。

He thought it would be a good idea to get out on the road before there were too many cars and trucks.

他想，在有太多的小車和大卡車開出來之前上路是個(gè)明智的選擇。

He drove through Central Park to One Hundred and Tenth Street, then over to the West Side Highway, then north to the Saw Mill River Parkway.

他駕車開過中央公園，來到第110街，然后又開過西邊的大路，順著北邊的河邊鋸木廠林蔭道繼續(xù)前行。

The car ran beautifully and although people were inclined to stare at him, Stuart didn't mind.

他的小車跑起來的樣子很瀟灑，引起了一些行人的注意，可斯圖亞特根本就不在乎。

He was very careful not to press the button which had caused so much trouble the day before.

他一直很小心，不讓自己再去摁昨天引起了那么多麻煩的那個(gè)按鈕。

He made up his mind that he would never use that button again.

他決定再也不碰那個(gè)按鈕了。
