運動員精神

Sportsmanship means the right spirit

運動員精神是

for people who are taking part in any sport or playingany game.

相對于那些參加各種級別的運動會，并盡力參加每一場比賽的用動員而言的。

Everybody knows that a real sportsman would neverdream of cheating in a game.

所有人都知道真正的運動員從不奢望在賽場上靠作弊取勝。

He always plays fair and follows the rules of the game.

他總是行為正直，遵守比賽規(guī)則，

He takes the game seriously. He is keen to win,

并且認真地進行比賽，他渴望取勝，

plays with all his energy to beat his opponent,

全身心地投入以擊敗對手。

and expects his opponents to be as serious as he is.

同時，他又期待對手像他一樣嚴(yán)肅地對待比賽。

He will play a losing game with dignity.

即使他對比賽沒有信心但他還是帶著尊嚴(yán)參賽

An unsportsmanlike player will often lose his temper when he is losing,

一個不稱職的運動員在比賽失敗時會大發(fā)脾氣，

like a spoilt child.

像寵壞的孩子似的。

The true sportsman keeps in good humor even when he is defeated.

而真正的運動員即使被擊敗了，還照樣保持幽默的態(tài)度。

The final test of a real sportsman is whether he can take defeat well.

檢驗一個運動員的真正標(biāo)準(zhǔn)是他對待失敗的態(tài)度。

If he is defeated and congratulates the winner,

假如他被擊敗時，仍真誠地向獲勝者表示祝賀，

he has indeed the true sporting spirit

那他就完全具備了成為一個真正的運動員的品質(zhì)了。
